TimeTools Ethernet NTP Digital Wall Clocks utilise NTP\SNTP to maintain accurate time. NTP is Network Time Protocol, it is a means for clients of obtaining accurate time from an NTP server. An NTP server obtains an accurate time from an external timing reference such as a GPS or radio atomic clock and maintains an accurate time. SNTP is a simplified version of NTP, it does not include some of the complex timing algorithms that NTP utilises and therefor is a good solution for embedded systems.
The digital wall clock devices periodically poll an NTP server for accurate time and maintain and display the supplied time. The devices can synchronise to with 0.2 second of the correct time. |
